Some marketing quotes are soooo old… hackneyed terms and phrases over time can make them seem useless and unusable. But sometimes it’s a matter of perception and a true, deep understanding of those quotes transcends their hackneyed persona by continually delivering results.
One such example was coined in 1908 by César Ritz, the celebrated French hotelier credited with saying ‘Le client n’a jamais tort’ – ‘The customer is never wrong’. That’s not the phrase that people now remember, but it can hardly be said to be any different in meaning to ‘the customer is always right’.
A modern adaptation of that phrase is ‘Listen to your customers’.
This is just as relevant in 2024, and in marketing terms, this is still a pillar of the business world.
If you really listen to what your audience are saying and understand their pain points you can develop solutions and offer more targeted content that will keep your marketing teams busy for years to come.
